Quilting Information

How to prepare your quilt for longarm quilting:

  • Please make sure your backing (and if applicable, batting!) is AT LEAST 4″ larger than your quilt top ON ALL SIDES – this will allow me to properly load your quilt so I can do my best work!
  • Your quilt top seams need to be pressed and ready to go – you don’t want seams laying all wonky and making your quilt look lumpy!
  • If you are sending your quilt to me in the mail, you may want to make sure it’s in a waterproof bag to protect against any unexpected elements!
  • If you have a desired top and bottom orientation to your quilt top (or back!), please let me know and mark it (a pinned piece scrap paper works!) – if you don’t indicate anything specific, I will use my best judgment.

What type of services do you provide?

I provide digital edge-to-edge longarm quilting services; this means that the designs are computerized and are the same across your entire quilt top. I do not offer custom quilting at this time!

What are your quilting rates?

I charge a flat rate for quilting at $0.23/square inch. For example, if your quilt top measures 50×60,” that is 3000 square inches x 0.023 = $69.00. There is a $50 minimum order!

Do you provide batting?

You are welcome to provide your own batting, or I carry unbleached Hobbs 80/20 (which I have used for years and I love!) that is charged by the linear inch, so only as much as you need for your quilt!

Do you accept mailed-in quilts?

Absolutely! I am located in Traverse City, Michigan – whether you are near or far, I’d be happy to do your quilts for you! Please make sure that your quilts are protected against damage or any unforeseen interactions with Mother Nature – like wrapping your quilt in a plastic bag and packing in a box! Quilts will be returned to you by mail (if requested) using USPS Priority – which includes $100 insurance. If you want to increase the insurance on your return package, please let me know and I’ll get a quote for you from USPS. Return shipping costs will be added to final invoice – once that invoice is closed out, your quilts will be on their merry way to you!

What is your Turnaround Time?

I know what it’s like to be waiting anxiously in anticipation for your quilt to be completed! I strive to have quick turnaround times – feel free to reach out to me in advance if you’d like a guesstimate. If you need your quilt done by a specific date, please reach out to me so we can make sure it’s possible! There is also a rush option available ($35) that will push your quilt up in the queue if necessary.
